Fennesz - Mosaic

Fennesz's most reflective album to date is Mosaic. Composed and recorded at the end of 2023 and completed in the summer of 2024, Fennesz set up a new studio space, the third one in four years.

With no immediate concept in mind, he started from scratch, following a strict working routine. He would get up early in the morning, work until midday, take a break, and then continue working until evening. Initially, he focused on collecting ideas, experimenting, and improvising. This process then evolved into composing, mixing, and correcting.

The title 'Mosaic' came early on, reflecting the methodical process of putting elements into place one at a time to create the full picture, akin to an ancient technique of image-making. This '9 to 5' working routine was a development from his previous album 'Agora'. Unlike his previous albums, which had breaks in between, 'Mosaic' was completed from start to finish without interruption.
